Adjustments Final action to adjust civilian employees to new positions at Hill Air Force Base because of assignment and work-loa- d changes was taken this week, according to L. H. Florence, chief of civilian personnel at Hill AFB. Florence emphasized that the shift in job assignment was not a new reduction in force move. As work loads change it is not feasible to keep employees on jobs when normal work can be accomplished by smaller staffs, Florence indicated. In spite of a civilian manpower ceiling established recently by the department of defense, the civilian strength at Hill AFB. is still 52 positions below the authorized number. Normal attrition, that is the regular turnover of personnel, has taken care of the necessary total reduction in civilian manpower. In some instances the turnover has not occured in the right places, with the result that certain departments are overstaffed while others are under the manpower allotments. To correct this situation reassignment of some Hill AFB personnel has been necessary. A total of 111 jobs will be terminated, but exactly how many will be reassigned to new jobs has not been determined. In some cases where a reduction in pay is necessary, employees may refuse to accept the new positions. The jobs being terminated are those which cannot be adjusted to new assignments. Determination of which jobs ter minated was made on the basis of work-loa- d requirements and selec tion of people to fill remaining positions was based on seniority and skill. In most cases it has been surplus peronnel who are reassigned. Florence said, "We must, wherever possible, keep those em ployees with the mqst technical know-hoand seniority in order to best accomplish our assigned mission at Hill AFB." w Received Today Type of Pay Checks 11 Final Action Is Taken in Job McDonald said. "Therefore, this type of check, which can be organhas been ized mechanically, adopted." "But these checks need your special attention," he cautioned. "They must not be folded, bent, crumpled, or mutilated or it will be impossible to process them through the machines." "Treat the checks as though they are worth the actual value printed thereon," he said. "Get them cashed or to the bank as soon as pos sible. If these precautions are fol lowed you will be assisting in the economy drive." Bulletin Three winners in the Security contest were announced today by the security indoctrination office. First place winner is Scott W. Clay, accounting branch finance division; second prize will go to Elwood C. Shaffer, teletype maintenance, base communications; third place was won by Scott W. Stewart, Jr., car- buretor shop, engine repair. Award ing of prizes, three bonds valued at $100, $50 and $25, will be made the first part of next week. |
