Since he must spend most of his time studying, attending discussions, and transacting national' issues, very few letters addressed to' him, are ever handled by him personally. A large office staff, there fore, is continually kept busy answering this mountain of Our congressmen and senators are also very busy people. Their chief concern is the passing of laws, statutes, and other business nec essary for the welfare of the nation as a whole, as well as the direct state they represent. They like to hear from us, of course. But they also expect us to exhaust every other avenue of relief before we go to them for assistance. Air Force personnel have problems, to be sure. It was known all along that we would have, and for that reason, every possible effort is made to establish offices and procedures within the. Air Force to assist , in solving these problems. That is why' we have personal affairs offices, American Red Cross Air Force Aid Society, Chaplains, air inspectors, surgeons, and a wide variety of recreational activities. Commanding Officers have a real interest in genuine problems encountered by their personnel. Go to him first, and if necessary after hearing your problem he can't help you he will refer you to the next higher authority or someone who can help you. If you have tried all these offices without success you can. see the Air Inspector during his regular conference hours. Notice of these meetings is posted oh all squadron bulletin boards. You will not be punished for taking your troubles to him, and usually your problem is settled by the time you leave his office. Remember, the Air Force takes care of it's own. Be sure you have exhausted all other means of assistance before burdening your congressman. That way you leave him more time to help the more important decisions conducive to good government and continual national strength.
