Football Team Honored At Recent Banquet By Charles Greenhaw Thirty-fou- r letter men of Hill AFB's winless gridiron greats were feted at a banquet held in their honor at the NCO Club recently . A big steak dinner preceded the evening's festivities, which included speeches by Ken Shul-sewho represented University of Utah's head coach, Ike Armstrong, and Lt. Kenneth A. Smith, Hill AFB's athletic director. A well known wrestler, Phil Olaf-so- n .better known as the Swedish Angel displayed his dynamic personality and world famous face to the crowd that was made up of players of the 1949 Hill football team and their guests. Hill's medics were well represented at the affair. Captain James Bassett, Lt. Henry Van De Pol and their wives were present along with Lt. Paul Herold, head coach. Lt. Leonille Dufault and Lt. Helen Skoronski of the Army Uurse Corps took part in a football skit that involved both men and women and left the audience rolling in the aisles from laughter. Lt. Smith topped the evening off with the presentation of letter sweaters. Lettermen are: Francis Shaw, A. J. Bishop, wing section of sheet metal, works on airplanes all day-- he gets a day off and what should happen, but he tangles with more airplanes. Bishop was driving past the Salt Lake recently City Airport with his family and before he knew what had happened his car looked like it was part of an airplane.
