Show Thursday November 10, 1949 "Bowes" Were Tied HILL Flying Pin-Ga- Sent to U. of Page 3 Military Air Transport Service Machine ll TOP TIMES U. The University of Utah will soon have a flying pin ball machine, compliments of the United States Air Force and Hill Field. The unique aircraft will be placed on display at the University campus. The plane, which is officially is an designated the QE-6armoured target plane, the armour being put on in small sections and connected electrically with a panel of lights. When a section of the armour plating is struck a sharp blow with a hammer or a plastic bullet, it is recorded on the panel of lights and is recorded by . an automatic counter. When shot at in gunnery practice, direct hits with the plastic bullets from the "enemy" plane makes the panel light up and the counter clicks off the hits scored like a modern day pin ball machine. Another amazing feature of this propellor driven aircraft is the fact that the pilot sits ahead of the engine, spraddling the drive shaft that turns the propellor. Without the armour plate the aircraft is known as the 3 "King Cobra" which was used during World MATS for Short 3, i 1 (Photo by Neils Speggers) The former Lydia Dillier, post exchange manager, has been known as Mrs. Francis J.
