Wm. S. Chandler, base and transient maint. eng. sect., called Edward V. Olson, foreman of flight test, Hill Air Force Base became a vital and integral part of it. "Can you handle an engine change on a 4 aircraft?" asked Capt. Chandler. The answer came simply from Olson, "Yes, send 'er over." The seven-ma- n crew wasted no time in "pulling" the old engine once it was brought down to the hangar. They finished the oil tank and lines, and when the new engine arrived from Great Falls, Mont., on February 16, the men were ready to swing it into place. However, it was discovered one more item was needed to complete the job an oil cooler. There was none on the base. Again Great Falls played a feature role. ready for take-of- f at the moment the pall delayed departure a few minutes! au ou cooier was loaded aboard and in less than 3 hours th onnW C-5- ...
