Never before at this depot has a system been installed with as little loss of time. The manual job was done by post utilities and shop maintenance and the system was designed by the methods and procedures branch. Previously the section operated ' under ordinary shop methods and it has now become a place of em- - . ciency with its greatest virtue that of saving unnecessary steps for personnel by giving them only one job to do and that one done in the same place each day. when the governors first come down the line, they are disassem bled. They are then washed in a. new automatic cleaner and dryer which was designed with the as sistance of nearly all the people ' in the section and which will soon be set up for use in the washing of electrical units all over the field. Cleaning time is cut 80 per cent. ' An inspector then sees to it that all parts are serviceable and into each individual basket he places ail component parts oi the governor so that no man has to leave his station to search for a lack ing part. The governors are completely reassembled and then finally in spected. The proper type of roller conveyor has yet to be put in use. The line was set up and needed so urgently that the roller line has not been completed. In less than once every 25 minutes a completed governor rolls off the line.
