Tech Is Ousted From Tourney By Cpl. Jerry Vance The law of average finally caught up with 25th Tech Supply softball team as they dropped two consecutive games, thus causing their elimination from the National Softball Congress Tournament. Taking the field Friday night with a boastful record of 23 straight victories, Tech Supply suffered their first setback in twenty-fou- r starts, and never stopped staggering from the effects of this blow. After losing to Al's Bike Friday night, they bowed to Davis the night. Their worst defeat came at the hands of Al's Bike, a 2 decision, but the heartbreaker was lost in the final frame to the Stars on an 8 count. A total of six errors by Tech was the deciding factor in both defeats. O'Keefe, Uhl, and pitcher Heacox made repeated performance of outstanding field plays, while Gonda had a perfect day at the plate against the Bikemen, collecting four hits in four official trips to the plate. Then Jolting Kanatzar, keystone pilot made his debut and slapped a sizzling line drive past the third baseman. Before the fracas ended Tech had taken command of the game with a 2 score. Yet in the last half of the seventh they barely escaped disaster as Kammeyers produced two runs on a costly error, thus sending the game into an overtime period. But with their next turn at the plate, Tech capitalized, by virtue of an homer by Overerror, on a two-ru-n ton and played inspired ball to end the game with a 2 lead. one-ru- ... ,13? yv jl spout sums Long and Short Sleeves 2.90 up 3-- SWEATERS Sleeveless Fancy or Plain 2.95 i $ up 5-- SPORTS SHORT NEW YORK (AFPS) Jesse Owens, who in one blazing afternoon broke five world records, tied a sixth and went on to win four Olympic gold medals, has been voted the "greatest track athlete since 1900" by the Associated Press SHOES Sport Oxfords Many Styles 6.95 up poll.
