The State Legislature can never be overcrowded with lobbyists who have the people's interest at heart. All the people of Carbon County are my clients and I definitely want to secure privileges for them. Carbon County has been my home all my life and I am interested in its peoples welfare. 1 am connected with many special interest groups in Carbon County. I secured 4,500 signatures to help save Carbon College.- This is a special interest group of which II am proud to be associated. Being chairman of the Carbon County Red Cross for two years is indeed another special interest group I have represented. Carbon College is one of the most important special interest groups in our County and I intend to work hard to gain special privileges for this institution just as I have in the past. Last year I was chairman for the Billy McGill basketball game which netted $2000 for the scholarship fund. The students who received these scholarships ore a special interest group I arn most definitely interested in. Tt seems to me, that in view of the treatment Carbon County, has received In the past, both Carbon County and Carbon College would benefit from a lobbyist instead of a "legislator." My opponent, I am told, has resided in Carbon County less than four years. It is unfortunate that his "reliable sources" are so poorly informed. I have contacted Mr. Otto Wiesley, chairman of the Utah State Industrial Commission, and he assured me that, both state and private workman's compensation insurance plans operate under the same schedule for time lost at work and pay the same rate of compensation. Both state and private insurance funds are governed by the same thraejnan-flXicto- r advisory board. For many years voters in Carbon County have been the bulwark of strength for Democratic candidates in Utah. Because of this solid Democratic vote our present Democratic U.S. Representatives and Senator were elected to their respective offices. Had Carbon County had a 0 divided vote, these officers would have been defeated. Therefore, we of Carbon County should have good reason to expect some effort on the part of our representatives in Congress, toward our welfare; concern for our economic plight.. Apparently our elected representatives believe Carbon County is "safe" and they can expect our Democratic majority to perpetuate Slice bananas lengthwise (one small or large one per serving). Again, when we needed help in our Gooseberry fight to keep our water in Carbon County, our representatives in Washington were absent, and had it not been for the effort of the State of California's representative, we would have lost the fight, and Carbon County water would have gone to Sanpete County. Carbon County is "SAFE" so our representatives "made hay" for additional Democratic votes in Sanpete County. " Carbon County has a system and we are paying dearly for it. To have efficient government at County, State and National levels, it is extremely important to have a two party system where an honest, patriotic opposition sharpens the effort of all elected officers.
