He was treated and released at the Carbon Hospital, according to the hospital spokesman. 7-- 3 7- Gean Plaga to speak at Dino awards dinner Gean Plaga, the highly successful football and baseball coach at West High School in Salt Lake City, is the guest speaker at the annual Carbon High athletic awards banquet in the school cafeteria tonight, (Wednesday) . Plaga, a native of Helper, is a son of Mrs. Thelma Plaga and the late Eugene Plaga. He is a Carbon High graduate where he won honors in football in the late '40's and was an outstanding baseball player for the Dinos and the Helper American Legion team. He played football at the University of Utah after leaving Carbon and has been the West High coach in both sports for a number of all-sta- te where years he has established a phenomenal record. West has been in the state Class football cham 4-- A pionship game for the last three years, winning twice, the last time just last fall under the guidance of Plaga. The Panther coach has also won numerous state baseball titles and up until two years ago coached the West American Legion team during the summer. Plaga took the state Legion title three times while winner of the outstanding all around athlete of the year award. Winners of the coaching the team. Walter Borla, Helper Journal and Sun Advocate sports writer, will serve as master of ceremonies for the dinner and the various athletic coaches on the Dino staff will make their awards. Principal Eugene Crocco will announce the "Martin Bezyack, Tony and Bill Coltrin Memorial awards" for football, basketball and track respectively will also be named for the school year. The league will start on June 7 and end on July 30. There will be seven weeks of league play and one week of tournament play to declare a league champ.
