The Marching Band will rehearse at 7 a.m. each day at Carbon High School. Students who were in the eighth grade will practice at the high school at 9 a.m. Seventh graders will meet at 10 a.m. Sixth will graders rehearse at 11:30 a.m. at Mont Harmon. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Helper Junior High School a stage band will rehearse at 9:30 a.m., sixth graders at 10:30 a.m. and seventh graders at 11:30 a.m. The Community Pops Concert Band will rehearse each Monday evening at 8:30 at Carbon High School. Participation will be open to band students in the eighth grade last year and older. NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ADOPT BUDGET Notice is hereby given by the city council of Helper, Utah of the intention of said city council at a regular meeting to be held on Chuck's Pharmacy has purchased the building at 133 S. H-- J Photo Shelly Babcock joins Helper Journal staff Shelly Babcock, a ninth grade student at Helper Junior High, has joined the Helper Journal as a staff writer, publisher Robert Finney has announced. Shelly, 14 years old and a native of Helper, is the daughter of Grant and Lorraine Babcock. Recently elected junior high student body president for next school year, she is also editor of the Rampage (school paper) and a member of the yearbook staff. The young reporter was on the high honor roll at school and maintained a 3.95 grade point average throughout the past year. She is also a piano student. In addition to her scholastic efforts, Shelly is an athlete, having participated on the track team and having won the President's Physical Shelly replaces Jean Ann Dimick on the Journal staff and will be covering social and club news and general features. of the preceding fiscal year and the estimates of the revenues for the next succeeding year and a statement of the financial condition of the city. Joe Rolando Jr. wins journalism scholarship A Helper man has been initiated into the University of Utah Chapter of Kappa Tau Alpha, the national honorary jour- nalism society and awarded a full tuition University Merit scholarship for 1975-7- 6. Joe Rolando Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rolando of Helper, was elected into the national honor journalism society because of his high cumulative grade point average and his work in journalism at the university, said Dr. Milton Hollstein, Kappa Tau Alpha adviser. Rolando is a junior majoring in the sequence. He left the editorship of The Helper Journal last fall to finish work for a bachelor of science degree. He was also a staff writer and news-editori- al photographer for the Sun Advocate before attending the University.
