The city council at its meeting July 11 approved a bid by Earl Hansen of Spring Glen of $5,600 to the auditorium. The bid is subject to price increases. Mrs. Rebol felt the council should execute the bid since the only other two bids the panel received were impossible to accept. A Layton firm's bid was turned down by the city panel at an earlier meeting, ;Western Mining Museum in the civic auditorium on South Main Street. ' This is museum curator Fred Voll's theory on why the number of signitures in the register are fewer this month than one year ago this month. ; In 1973 approximately 3,000 stopped to examine the numerous displays and murals on western coal mining at the museum. The total number of visitors in 1974 is expected to be about half of the 1973 total, Mr. Voll said. As an example, one day during the first part of July one seven persons had signed the register. One day in July of 1973 "the names of visitors filled three pages of the register", Mr. Voll noted. people make a point to purchase one of the first ten in a series.
