The women of the American Legion Auxiliary of Carbon Post 21 the mothers, wives and sisters and daughters of the men who died in the World War I and ol'her wars, will again ask all Americans to wear a poppy. More than 100,000 women volun teers distribute these memorial flowers each year. And since the poppies have been made by disabled veterans of our nation's wars, Poppy Day offers an opportunity to honor the dead, While at the same time assist those yet living. Poppy Chairman for Helper and area this year is Mrs Enis Limone of Helper. "Wearing this little red emblem will help us rekindle this spirit of patriotism and service to country which is needed as much now as in time of total war. Some lighted cases will contain special displays of shells. Some fossil and others from the Gulf of Mexico. There will be dealers from several states with many inter : esting displays also. Grab bag prizes and door prizes will be given away aL1 through the day beginning at 10 a.m. and to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free. A retired Rio Grande Railroad locomotive engineer. Mr Lloyd was born in Scofield in 1892 where he attended local schools, and in his early teens hired out on the railroad about 1913. His family moved to Helper in 1914 where he continued his railroad career. In 1962 Exie, after 52 years ' of devoted service to the Rio Grande hung up his cap and retired. He is married to the former Iona Reed of Helper. Since retiring Exie has enjoyed "staving home and on occasion going down town to cnecK on local politics." He says he never worries about railroading anymore.
