The tires now on the machine, costing $100 apiece, are the same that adorned the engine the day it was purchased, and though the tread is barely worn, the rubber is virtually ready to fall apart from age. It has been suggested by many that the old bus be given a run of a few miles each week to insure its perfect operation in times of immediate emergency. Cooperation of Railroad Seen In Clean-UCampaign The railroad is doing its part in the clean-ucampaign, it was learned from Rio Grande officials, in the way of creating a presentable face for the city to display to tourists traveling by rail. Railroad yards have been recently cleaned and levelled, as has much other property of the Rio Grande. It is reported that a neat white fence will be constructed from the railway depot, north to Kessler Court, and that railroad officials have been using their influence, and have accomplished results, in getting employees residing along this stretch to plant lawns and flowers in front of the houses. p Dangers Of Jaywalking 6 Pointed Out By Mayor "The city physician will gladly vac. cinate or inoculate persons against any chances of their dying from being struck by automobiles whenever a vaccine is discovered with which this can be done," warned Mayor B. H. Hyde this week. "But until that time, pedestrians take their lives into their own hands when they jay walk and cross main sreet promiscuously, without regard for onrushing traffic." "A vaccine is especially desirable because one exposure to is usually fatal." concluded the u'll like IZr Mild, Mellow Flavor QUART White City Shows, a travelling group, which started playing here Monday, appeared before the Helper city council last week for permission to establish here. They planned to be under the sponsorship of the Am erican Legion, a certain percentage of the receipts to go toward the purchase of the propsed iron lung, but members of the Legion protested when the plan was presented, and it was rejected.
