Show HELPER, UTAH, APRIL FOUR PAGE one aid to those less fortunate, mak National Band Contest Judge Praises Local Musical Director Floyd Fletcher, director of the Helper School band, was rated as a Class A director In the recent contest by Harold Bachman, of Chicago, who has been judge of the national band contest for three consecutive years, and has been selected to judge the 1934 national Mr. Bachman's percompetition. sonal comment was that Mr. Fletcher was outstanding because of his definite rhythm and precision. Mr. Fletcher is the first director to enter a junior high school band in a senior high school division and receive a top rating. The fact that the Helper band exhibited such thorough musical excellence is largely due to the training and detailed preparation which Mr. Fletcher has had. He has received his B. S. degree in music, with a double major or 80 quarter hours of college credit. He has studied with Professor Maddy, director of the National School for High School Band Directors; A. R.
