Show Kitchen Korner Am. Legion, Hot cross buns This recipe is a favorite of Mrs. Theresa Payne's of Helper and is just in time for your Easter time eating pleasure. 2 pkg. dry yeast or 2 cakes V c. lukewarm water scalded milk 4 Tbsp. sugar 4 Tbsp. butter 1 tsp. salt 1 egg, well beaten Vz c. chopped seedless raisins Vt c. chopped, candied cherries V2 tsp. cinnamon Vi lemon rind, grated Ttwo-third- s c. flour, all purpose In small bowl combine yeast and cup lukewarm water. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes, or until yeast dissolves, stirring until shortening dissolves; cup scalded milk, 4 tablespoons butter, 1 teaspoon salt. Cool to lukewarm; stir in dissolved yeast, 1 egg well beaten, cup chopped cup chopped candied cherries, Vi teaspoon raisins, lemon. cinnamon, grated rind of Add, all at once, and stir until well blended 3 & cups sifted flour. Turn dough out onto lightly floured board or pastry cloth. Pat and knead gently until dough is smooth and shiny, adding only enough flour to keep dough from sticking to board and hands. Shape into 18 equal size balls. Place in greased baking pan, 12 x ZVz x 2 inches. Brush tops with 1 egg, slightly beaten. Cover with clean towel or waxed paper; let rise in warm place about 1 hour, or until double in bulk. Bake buns in a moderate oven, 375 degrees, for 25 minutes. Remove from pan; cool. Makes 18 buns. . Frosting 3 Tbsp. powdered sugar 1 tsp. cold water In a small bowl, stir together above ingredients. They just assumed they were interested in what everybody else was. Mr. Jack Allred is teaching the class. He will help us look for our best choice in the world of jobs. He will help the students find films, resource people, and magazine articles. Mr. Allred has given the students' a S.R.A. booklet. This booklet asks questions such as: What I am like now, What I would like to be, What my hobbies are, free-tim- e activities and school activities, Why I chose these activities and describe the Helper Junior High Wrestling team! The team went down on Thursday, April 1st, 1976, at Carbon High. Lions slate Easter egg hunt The annual Helper Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 17, at 9 a.m. at the Helper City Ball Park, according to Delee Montoya, chairman of the event.
