SPORTSMENS CORNER By Hugh Jaramillo There has keen some question concerning the hunting of predators from light aircraft or of helDcopters. Section the Wildlife Resources code, specifically prohibits the taking of any protected wild life, from aircraft or motorized' land or acquatic vehicles. Unprotected wildlife are not afforded protection under this section; prohowever, Section hibits carrying of loaded firearms! in a vehicle. Aircraft are motor vehicles and discharge of firearms from aiircraft at coyotes and other unprotected wildlife is therefore illegal under terms of the new code. This statute is not interpreted to preclude employees of the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife, Division of Wildlife Services from shooting predatory animals from aircraft as part of this animal Control pro gram. Additionally, certificates of registration to permit aircraft hunting of such animals may be issued by the Division to individuals engaged in legitimate livestock operations. Certificates must be obtained prior to hunting and will be vaJid for a specified period of time. No blanket certificates for unlimited control will be authorized and no certificates will be issued1 for sport or recreation hunting from the air.
