' A -- VOLUME IN, t - T TVu " A Helper native has been named as assistant head resid eat at Austin Hall dormitory on the University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City. Paul Iiapis, son of Mr and Mrs Harry Iiapis, Helper was among ten students chosen to direct residence hall students for the 1967.68 academic year. He will work with, counsel and coordinate programs for 100 150 dormitory students and will supervise the work of six student advisers. Paul, a U of U Law student was chosen after application and interviews for his ability to make friends easily and to get along with a wide variety of personalities," according to Bruce Zenger, U of U residence halis director. "Assistant head residents must have a great deal of com mon sense and a high degree of sensitivity toward students' pro. Kerns," Zenger said. "And most important, they must be able to cope with these problems." Most of the successful appli. cants were student advisers in the dorms last year and have had a wide variety of exper. ience in University extra, curri cular activities r in Residence Hall programs. Arthur "Art" Dalpiaz Sr., a former Helper city councilman and city teasurer last Thursday night was named by Mayor Chrs P. Jouflas as the new city recorder to replace Joe Bonacci Jr., resigned. The mayor's appointment was approved by the council members. The new recorder bad been engaged in the lumber and build ing supplies business here for ever twenty years. He sold this business, Central Commission & Supply Co., in February of .this year. For seme time since disposing of the local firm, he was the office manager for a coal com pany in Carbon County. He is a lifelong resident ot Helper. He and wife "Dutch have one son, a practicing dentist, now residing in Flagstaff, Tony Aperges Funeral Held Sept. 25 In Greek Orthodox Church Funeral services were held last week, Sept. 25, for Tony Aparges, 78, Helper in the Greek Orthodox Church, Price. Died Sept 21 in a Price hospital after a long illness. Mr Aperges was a longtime Helper businessman. He operat. ed the City Cafe here in the early 1930's and for several years operated Tony's Club. He was bom Jan. 17, 1889 at ZoJon Keffallinia, Greece to Pan Agi and Magdalene Bruois Aperges. Married to Lena Bu eno Dec. 6, 1924, Rock Springs, Wyo. She died Feb. 16, 1952 Member Greek Orthodox church and GAPA. Survivors are a son, daugh ter, Pete, Helper; Mrs Anna Mal'ezi. Athens, Greece; six grandchildren; 5 great grand, children.
