F. Mar-chett- i. Beginnng Saturday, open to the public at 6:00 a.m. March 26, the lobby will be on weekdays and close at 6:30 p.m. Hours to be observed on Sundays and holidays are 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. POSTAL SERVICES HIKES ON MARCH 26 Increases in money orders, certified insurance, registry, mail and COD rates will become effective March 26, Postmaster E. F. Marchetti said today. The cost cf operating these five special services now exceeds revenues by $69 million annually. The fee increases wi'l narrow the gap by $36 million, based on business handled in Fiscal Year 1965 Fees for money orders, registry and COD were last changed in 1981; insurance and certified mail in 1967. The increases include: Money Order Fees: Dames-ti- c and international money order fees will be increased by 5 cents. Insurance Fees: The minimum fee bracket will be increas ed from ?10 to $15 and the min imum fee will be 20 cents in stead of 10 cents. The revised insurance fees will be: cost-reven- Up to $15, 20c; $15.1 to $50, 30c; $50.01 to $100, 40c; $100.01 to $150, 50c; $150.01 to $200, 60 cents. Fees: The present 40c and 50c fee brackets will be combined into one bracket at 60c for amounts up to $10. No change in the fees covering items valued above $10. Certified Mail: The fee will be increased 10c from the present 20c' per item to 30c. Losses incurred in the oper ation of special services ae paid from funds drawn from the Federal Treasury. The fee increases will shift a substan- tial portion of the special ser- vice cost borne by the public to the users of these services.
