It comes in the night or out of. the clear blue sky, it bursts open in times in one's life whidl may be the happiest and most pleasant and its consequence leaves behind it only dreams and visions of that which was once to be. Such was the case of the tragic death of Lorraine Mclntyre Wetzel, a bride of one month, and the charming, young wife of Nevin Wetzel both of whom had left Carbon county for Salt Lake City following their marriage last month to make their home. We mourn at the death of famous men who have ascended a career and made a life, but nothing arouses sympathy and bites into feelings of human beings so much as calamity such as that which visited this young couple at th threshold of the stair of life. All who know Nevin Wetzel in Carbon county know him as a most outstanding young man in leave the sense ideals and ambitions, and we can or.ly comment-w- e of justice to the hand of fate. Blake Palfreyman, Frank Warwood, and Lee Crawford, a trio on a reported drunken brawl, driving madly through one town after toward the scene of the accident in Spanish Fork Canyon telescoped their uncontrolled coupe into the car driven by Mr. Wetzel in which he had seen the approaching car and had driven his own to the far edge of the bank on his side of the road. But even this extreme was of no use kn the helpless plight of the young couple who were victims of all that is poisonous and nefarious of three drunks turned loose on the public highways. Mrs. Wetzel was killed instantly and Mr. Wetzel narrowly escaped death from loss of blood before he was extricated from his automobile which was struck head-o- n by the Palfreyman ear which was out of control and rounding a curve on the wrong side of the road. Never can the full extent of law aright the wrong of this tragedy, never can the full extent of the law appease the wrath and resentment to society caused by the devilish, drunken chase on a public thoroughfare of the three in the "murder" car. We can only comment.
