C. The special read as follows: "At the opening session of the U. S. Chamber of Commerce today, Utah was well represented, Lafayette Hanchett appearing for Salt Lake City, Gus' P. Backman for Brigham City, Randall L. Jones for Cedar City, Representative Robinson for Provo and L. W. Clayton for Ogden. No business of local interest to Utah was considered at the opening session." How can the people of Utah expect to benefit when such a coterie of representatives are in Washington at the chamber of commerce gathering as is listed in the above morning paper special front page news item. It is noted that Gus P. Backman represents Brigham City. Gus is secretary of the Salt Lake Chamber of Com'merce, and has been in Washington for the past few weeks lobbying against all legislation for the benefit of the people. He has the U. S. senators and representatives from Utah under his thumb and stays on the ground to keep tab on them so that they will sponsor legislation for the chambers of commerce and vote against legislation which is before congress for the benefit of the people. Gus has made statements that he has more power with the officials in Utah and in the nation's capital than the people of Utah. Then there is Lafayette Hanchett. The people of Utah know who he is. Once upon a time, when Morgan city, in Morgan county, was contemplating a municipal power plant, And LAUREL HARDY a delegation of a dozen officials and prominent citizens of in "FIXER UPPER."' It was the editor of The Utah Labor News who contacted the Morgan delegation at the close of this RFC money to build the municipal power plant tr&j&L in Morgan city.
