BRANDON MARION BONACCI Arthur S. Horsley, attorney at law and a lifelong resident of Carbon county, this week makes announcement of his intention to seek nomination on the republican ticket as county and prosecuting attorney for Carbon county on the republican ticket, his political announcement appearing in this issue of The Journal. Attorney Horsley was reared in Carbon county and for nine years served as principal of the Helper city schools. He enlisted in the 91st division, 348th heavy artillery for service during the World war, and saw active fighting duroffensive ing the Meuse-Argonn- e and other major fronts, and later serving with the army of occupation in Germany, serving alongside August Litizzette thruout the campaign. He is a member of the t. American Legion and the Editor and Publisher Society Editor PUBLICATION DAY THURSDAY Subscription Rates, per year in advance Helper, Carbon County, $2.00 . UTaK7ThursdaJuIyl1932 TAKING THE CORNER ON TWO WHEELS Some sage recently remarked that when prosperity arrived he hoped it wouldn't take the corner on two wheels and upset itself. But it begins to appear now as tho when prosperity does arrive it will do it with a rush. We have talked and believed hard times .for so long that we sometimes doubt they ever will leave us. That is where most of us will make a mistake. The majority of us are going to look prosperity in the face, remark, "there ain't no such animal," and continue our gloom, while e a bright, competitor steps out and grabs things while the grabbing is good. Things arc looking brighter over the nation, and the same cycle which put us on the rocks, once it is started jn an upward direction, will return prosperity by leaps and bounds. So fast as men are put to work, that fast does buy ing power increase, and as buying power increases produc tion gains; as production gains, more men are employed. The cycle is endless and can easily work as much good as it has done harm. We need not look for untold careless wealth flying and flitting about. That kind of prosperity will not return again in our generation. The lesson has been too severe. But we can look for (and just as surely find) an upward business trend. It is at hand; whether one wishes to see it or remain doubtful is up to the individual. However, it w ill behoove all of us to get up on our toes and keep a weather eye peeled during the next few months. tt ft 5 T HUGH C0UiRFOO Forty-and-Eigh- iHiiimmmmtmmmiiHin 11 i HI FRT Muifttt MfXUIUfi V y weeks vacation which was divided The Rev. Ye Scribe to date has been unable to verify the many rumors of Paul's activities while away. H. C. (Pete) Archer, General Yardmaster Elliott's right bower, has definitely decided not to spend his vacation on the coast, but deplores the fact that swimming in Helper is temporarily, at least, on the blink.
