The stores of this town, and particularly the dry goods stores, of which this store is a member, have kept their doors open heretofore from 8 a. m. to 6 p. m. during the summer months; and from 8 a. m. to 7 p. m. during the winter months. They have found those hours were necessary and convenient to our trade, considering the location of Helper. Our President asks us to provide for extra employment, to take care of the employees shortened hours, thus caused by federal regulation. Under the present system of opening and closings, the aims and the spirit of the N. R. A. can be fulfilled with satisfactory results. However, the movement now under way to change the opening and closing hours to 9 a. m. and 6 p. m. (instead of the present 8 to 6) eliminates the possibility of hiring extra unemployed persons and thus, knowingly or unknowingly, defeats the purpose and aims of our National Administration to better conditions. This store, along with other stores, is opposing this decrease of one hour from our regular operations, and will not be a party to any change which, in ov.r opinion, conflicts with and unknowingly defies the purposes of the Administration. For this reason, this store maintains that if any change is made it should be to better conditions and not to make them worse. This store recommends, and is making preparations to take effect Sept. 1 (or immediately if the rest of the retailers in our line and the public and consumers approve of it) to NOT decrease any hours, but to change the hours from the present opening and closing schedule to 9 a. m. to 7 p. m. as the only means to actually help our President carry out his untiring efforts to bring prosperity back. Believing that what we recommend is the right thing to do and one that in reality complies with the wisSes and desires of the National Administration, we invite the opinions and suggestions of others as to the correctness of our judgment, and from tnose retailers who really wish to go through with the rest f the country, as well as from the buying and reading public. $1.29 $1.49 $1.49 D Flour Will We Knowingly Defeat the Purpose of the Spirit and the Appeal of Our President? August Sth there will be a processing tax placed on all wheat products. So now is the time to buy flour as it will mean a saving of about 34c on . every bag.
