About pollution About safety About the economy About your dollar We know For the past 10 years Chevrolet research people have questioned thousands of people on every subject from rising taxes to the size of the glovebox in their cars We've found that price and value and maintenance costs trade-iquality have become tremendously important Your car has to work It has to last And each new model must have value more built-iAt Chevrolet we understand You want meaningful change And our aim is to give that to you as you’ll see in the 1971 Chevrolets treatment medical Receiving Gunduring the past week most luxurious Chevrolet ever A complete change Bigness in itself is nothing But if it allows you to lengthen the distance between the front and rear wheels (which we did) then you’ve got something You’ve got a smoother ride The idea in the 1971 Caprice was to give you the looks and comfort of a six- - or car without asking you to pay anywhere near that much for it And above all to build in as much dependability and security as possible So we changed the body structure for 1971 too We made it stronger And we made it quieter by putting a double layer of steel in the roof Caprice as you can see below is a lot of luxury at a Chevrolet price Vega The littlest Chevy ever It wasn’t changed from anything Before building Vega we read everything we could get our hands on about little cars We talked to owners We studied little cars up one side and down the other and literally tore them apart We found out what made them tick or why they didn’t tick What ticked were gas economy and dependability What didn’t were underpowered engines cramped quarters and getting blown around in the wind In our little Vega everything ticks It’s not just another little car You didn’t want that It’s one little car that does everything well — i Mac Peterson arrived from California last week and is visiting over the holiday with Mr and Mrs Merrill Peterson and a sister Mrs JB Roper Marsha and David UTAH INCOME TAX SOARS When you voted for the Income Tax revision in the past election you just voted yourself the second raise in the State tax In the past 6 years In ’64 you paid on the first $5000 taxable income$150 In about '65 the tax was raised to $200 Now in 1971 it goes to $250 or an Increase in taxes by 66 23 To simplify it say for every $300 tax you paid in 1964 in 1971 you will be paying The Tax Commission $500 would like us to believe that there will be no increase in tax because the few items in the Federal law which are more liberal than present Utah law are the treatment of capital gains limitations on charitable contributions medical deducations and exclusions of sick pay I feel these few items they point would have little effect if any that the savings would be very minor to 95 of you taxpayers Of course for each dependent you list you can deduct $52500 for each or a savings of 25? for each dependent I see also that they are now the disanticipating eliminating abled and crippled veterans property tax abatement The voters of the State have voted twice on this tax abatement for veterans and their widows and have passed it by a majority vote Iwouldllke to see the legislature pick on someone that is able to defend themselves Lt Qg) and Mrs Paul Rasmussen and daughter Melanie Kae visiting this week with Paul’s Mr and Mrs parents Moyle The visitors are
