Show f1eart Attack Fatal ToMrs.MillieKearns ! Following an Dlness of four weeks, during which time she was confined to her bed, Mrs. Millie Davis Kearns, prominent in church and social work in Gunnison, died Sunday afternoon at five o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. LaVor Clements. A severe heart attack, from which she had suffered more or less for a few months, was the cause of the untimely untime-ly calling. Mrs. Kearns was born, in Indiana, April 4, 1862, and was 73 years old at the time of her death. She was the daughter of William P. and Martha Mar-tha Ann Suddeth Davis, and when but a young girl, she, with her parents, par-ents, went to Unionville, Mo., where . they remained until April, 1881. Dur-'l ing 1881 she was married to Smith' Kearns, and with one small child Mr.' and Mrs. Kearns came to Gunnison, where Mrs. Kearns had resided for some 37 years. Mr. Kearns was called call-ed by death April 11, 1912. Mrs. Keams, an ardent worker in the local Relief society, was known for her kindness and love for her family, and the generosity to those in need, and was always willing to help during sickness among her friends and neighbors. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. LaVor Clements of Gunnison and Mrs. F. W. McMillan of Salt Lake City; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet St. Johns and Mrs. Hulda St. Johns of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mrs. Martha Novinger of Unionville. Nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren are also left as survivors. Funeral services for Mrs. Kearns will be held thr's, Thursday, afternoon after-noon at 2 o'clock at the Gunnison ward chapel. Bishop John M. Anderson Ander-son will preside. Burial will be at the Gunnison City cemetery. Relatives who came to be present at the final rites are: Mr. and Mrs. F. W. McMillan, Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Shel-don McMillan, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. McMillan, the Misses Barbara and Audrey McMillan, Wallen and Jack McMillan, all of Salt Lake. j |
