Show Very Conscientious Man. John William Ling, a butcher's manager, cut his throat at his house in Plumstead Common-road, London, recently, and at the inquest a strange reason was suggested. Ling, it was stated, was "a very conscientious man," and the fact that he was going to open a business close to his employer's em-ployer's shop preyed upon his mind.1 He did not like the idea of opening in opposition to his master, who he had served for nine years, as he had said, it would take away many of his customers, and that would be a mean trick. |
