IS A GO FOR OLD FOLKS Money to The suggestion of the Gazette a couple of weeks ago concerning a p.irty for the old people of Gunnison ward has had its effect. On Sunday Jop last, at the ward service, seph Christenson took up the matter and had a committee elected with instruction to make the necessary arrangements as early as possible. The committees personnel is such as to insure for the old people one of the best reunions ever giveu them in this place. Their names tell it here they are : John M, Knighton, chairman. John M. Kearns. C. M. Madsen. Mrs. J. W. Edwards. Mrs. William Bardsley. Mrs John P.tJensea. Mrs. Joseph A. Larson. Tke committee will need some means, so lets all throw in liberally and help make the 1906 event the best yet of the whole caboodle. Tuesday evening was spent in arranging the preliminaries. Sub committees were named and a date fixed for the event, viz : Tuesday, March 6 -- ck. Badges of ribbon bearing inscription of the event will be worn by all who participate, including the company of young people selected as waiters and committee members. The honored guests will enjoy a gala time and it is right they should. Some attention has been paid, since muddy weather set in, to the graveling of sidewalks. From the hotel corner and down past the Cash Store has been for a long time in need cf such a dressing and Messrs. Beauregaard and Edwards are to bo commended for their work. O. B. Bergluud is another good boy for his having this week given the sidewalk which fronts his residence a right thick coat of gravel along the entire distance of his premises. It K K The Blawk Hawk veterans had a big part Monday night, iu the op( ra house. The attendance was beyond expectation and the vets cleared a nice little sum that went toward paying oil some of the Posts indebtedness. The dance was enjoyed immensely by everyone present and was kept up until a late hour. A short program preceded the dancing. A humorous talk upou early day conditions was given by Bishop Joseph Christenson, followed by some interesting reminiscences from Comrades Austin Kearnes and Sylvester Whiting a solo by Ernest Swalberg and an overture by the orchestra. It is the intention soon to give a similar time at Centerfield. |
