An inspiring page of American history tells of dhe achievement of these Wil-iliat- n pro-lifi- c pioneer. Proud of this achievement, and reveling in the prosperity that follow-- d it, the people of the northwest have completed plans for the celebration of tbe centennial anniversary of the arrival of the pioneers in an exposition to be held in tbe city of Portland opening June 1 and closing Oct. 15. The earn of $T,000,000 has been secured for the purpose. The promise is is given that the display of the resources of the west and of the orient will be the greatest in history. UTAHS PECULIAR INTEREST. Utah is peculiarly interested in this exposition. There is much in the story of the heroes w ho won the west for our nation to appeal with force to the people of this state, children and beueficianes of a similar band of state builders. In addition to this, Utah 'holds much in common with the stales of the west. In all branches of industry and business; sociallv and politically, the states of the Pacific elope are Jinekd in the closest ties. Most travelers from the east and south will pass through Utah when they visit Portland next summer. The legislature appropriated $30,-0- 0 to enable our state to mark an exhibit at this exposition. Jenson, whiob took place at their residence in this city last evening, at 6:50 oclock. Aa no doubt many are aware, Mri. Jenson baa been ill for a long time, but at last the summons came to depart ibis life. Mrs Jensen was a very devoted wife, and the sting with which her death comes to her husband and relatives is very severe. She proved true to the faith to the very last, and though she has passed away, there need be no fear but that she has earned a salvation with the just in tbe kingdom of God.
