Show DOUBLE TRAGEDY IN IDAHO. Wealthy Merchant Kills Woman Because Be-cause She Refused to Marry Him. . Rupert, Idaho. A double tragedy that has shocked the community occurred oc-curred Saturday night at Minidoka, a small village some fifteen miles from Rupert, when T. W. R. Nelson, a prominent and wealthy merchant of Rupert, shot and killed Mrs. Nellie M. Pittenger, also of Rupert, afterwards after-wards turning the gun upon himself with fatal effect. Mrs. Pittenger had refused to marry Nelson. Nelson was about 62 years of age, with a large family of grown children. He ownpi a large hardware and furniture fur-niture store in Rupert and another in Pearl. He was interested in two banks in Utah and other enterprises. He has always been regarded as a level-headed business man and was highly respected. |
