The afternoon was spent from 1 o'clock, in some very interesting contests at the bowery, special care being exercised by the committee in supplying all tho children, winners and losers alike, with suitable prizes. The ladies also came in for special furors and some good prizes were carried off by them in contests that wero interesting to those who saw them by crowding to tho front. The day was well spent and the evening a delightful pastime for lovers of the outdid that on the Fourth, it being augmeuted by two Boats the Sunflower and the Horribles--froAxtell, Mrs. Janus S. Jenseu was an attractive figure in the Utah lloxt with Dorcus Childs and Lutta Wool-sens maids of honor. A float of little girls represented the different counties and was followed by a representation of tho pioneers, tho baud, tho Axtell floats, tho various church organizations carrying banners, and Utahs best crop. The exercises at the hall wero very interesting. Tho oration was given by X. C. Tellestrup. II. M. Garrick created considerable fun in his relating of early day experiences iu this state. The literary portion of tho program was short but entertaining. Tho afternoon was spent with the usual outdoor sports and a children's dance. CENTERFIELD.
