Jhillen f Salt Lake; Mrs. Sarah Metcalf Swal-berg Swal-berg and daughter Vera of LeUrand'?, Oregon: a number of friends from Sa-lina Sa-lina and Kphsaim. (,'arl August Swalberg, born in Xe-vekvarn, Xe-vekvarn, Sweden, September 23, 1S35, died at his home in this city, Sunday morning, November IS, 19L7, of old. age and general debility, in his 83rd. year, lie was ill about three weeks. His parents were IS'iels Swalberg and Anna C. Johnson. He first married mar-ried in 1S0S to llermina Leocordi who died without issue, lie took to wifa Caroline Hanson about 1802, 4 sons and 5 daughters bsing the issue of their union. Besides his wife, who died October 1907, 5 children have preceded him to the beyond The 4 surviving are Fred IS., Uhlinp Ernest L., Dr. 11. Clement, and Mrs. Emily Anderson all residing in Gunnison. He was an ardent worker in church capacity and gave freely of his means to any public call and was a faithful member of the high priest quorum in South Sanpetestake. Impressive Funeral for Carl A. Swalberg The funeral of Carl A. Swalberg, a stal wart veteran of Gunnison the past 42 years was held from the R. S. hall Wednesday afternoon under the di rection of Joseph A. Larson of the ward bishopric. Songs rendered by a double quartet were "Sometime We'll Understand," "The Lord Is My Shep-hgrd" Shep-hgrd" and "Beautiful Zion." A solo, "Sweet Spirit Hear My Prayer" was sung by Mrs. Emily Knighton. The opening prayer was offered by New" ton E Noyes of Ephraim. Addresses were made by veterans who were closely associated in life witli the departed de-parted one namely John Larson, Fred Ludvigson, N. C. Tollestrup and Austin Aus-tin Kearns. Other-speakers of intimate inti-mate acquaintance were Joseph Christenson, President Joseph Y. Jensen of the stake presidency, and Dr. A. T: Nelson of Ephraim. Counselor Coun-selor Adolph Peterson offered the closing clos-ing prayer. Deceased was warmly eulogized as a public spirited man, intensely devo |
