Show Woman Royalties Made Army Officers. For the first time in English history four royal women have been gazetted as colonels in chief of English regiments. regi-ments. Heretofore several of them, including includ-ing Queen Mary herself, have held German army titles and Queen Victoria naturally was the head of the British army, but now Queen Mary has been appointed colonel in chief of the Eighteenth Hussars of historic fame, while the Queen Mother Alexandra is associated with Nineteenth Hussars. |
