Show 0 go re S u move a 0 0 elff bul g 9 va Q jal L tome ea L de IRI wo AU by students and towns people work together job completed in one day M day fell on saturday novem ber ath on that day the students and most of the school equipment were moved from the old building to the new A new era had begun for the green river schools on thursday november 3rd the board of education of the distrait accepted on a te native basis the building from davis and butler and their subcontractors sup bupt supt t hen then gave the school permission to move immediately saturday was set for moving day the plan for moving was design ed to operate while the school was largely still in session the elemen tary ary grades were moved first each child took his books and personal belongings in his arms as the turn for his grade came along he then warded boarded the school bus and was tran sported to the new building waiting there until a crew of high school boys brought a loaded truck of desks and placed them in the proper room when this was accomplished the stu dents then left the bus and placed his books and belongings in his old desk in his new room after an in spec tion of the whole new building escorted by the teachers the grade then returned to its assigned room for regular class work the first grade began to move at about 9 15 shortly after 11 00 the last elementary student was in his place in the new school except for the students comaris mg ing the moving crews high school classes remained in session until almost noon at that time their de aks and such equipment as pianos were moved at about 2 00 the high school students boarded the sch ool bus and the available cars for transportation to the new building the student students then inspected the bu alding under the direction of the fac alty during the late afternoon the boys boys held a first basketball tee ce in the gym school resumed its normal cour se on monday morning thanks are due to many of the movers to the high school boys who did the heavy lifting to ken silliman rowland thompson gene hunt bobby hoggatt and alfred king ing who loaned trucks and to don mcdougall and roland thompson who drove trucks the big job of moving was ace acc in one day very little time was lost all students were in class at least part of the tune time on moving day |
