Show A4-T- Thursday, Feb. 4, 1993 Times-lndepende- he Canyonlands backcountry plan completed by Park Service Public meeting were held in Utah and Colorado in December and January by the National Park Service (NPS) in order to gather additional input on the revision of the National Canyonlands Park Backcountry Management Plan. More than 100 written comments have also been received in response to a newsletter mailed last December. Meetings were held in Hanksville, Green River, Monticello, Moab, and Salt Lake City, Utah and Lakewood, r Ra1p i Colorado. The purpose of the newsletter and meetings was to explain the steps involved in the Backcountry Management Plan revision, and to seek ideas for addressing issues pointed out to the park during the scoping period last summer. These ideas will help Canyonlands managers as they write a draft Backcountry Management Plan and Environmental Assessment over the next few months. The Backcountry Management Plan addresses the management of the park away from developed areas.
