Show BRILLIANT WOMEN SPEAK Inez Milholland Boissevain, the brilliant and beautiful, and Helen Todd, a forceful speaker who has a way of winning her audiences In no time, appeared before a more or less distinguished disting-uished gathering of fifteen hundred people at the Salt Lake theatre on Tuesday night, to make a plea for a federal constitutional amendment, and during the course of the proceedings the Democratic Demo-cratic party came in for a severe rebuke for its failure to support Senator Sutherland's resolution submitting an amendment providing for universal suffrage. The coming of Mrs. Boissevain and Miss Todd Avas in line with the policy of those mostly intereste'd in bringing leading speakers on the subject here during their tour of the country, coun-try, Miss Maud Younger who was here a fortnight ago, being another who is making a great effort to advance their cause. Mrs. Margaret Zane Cherdron presided at the meeting held at the theatre, and seated on the stage were a large number num-ber of ladies prominent in the local work. The speakers were greeted by an attentive and enthusiastic en-thusiastic audience, which expressed its appreciation apprecia-tion of the arguments of both speakers throughout through-out the meeting. Both of them are internationally internation-ally famous, an ,e local ladies who represent the party for which the speakers are sponsors, feel that this city was signally honored by their presence. |
