Show I LIGHT AND WATER. When the lights were out on Tuesday night B and the water was shut off a lively discussion took place among a small company of ladies on H the east side, and the final conclusion was that except for the reputation of the thing a person might better live out in the hills where at least cold water and a torch light could be provided. There is an excuse for the lights to go out in a thunder storm, but the scarcity of water, with millions of gallons going to waste daily, is hard to reconcile on any theory of common intelligence, intelli-gence, common honesty or common sense. We hope the next Legislature will limit the government govern-ment of this city to a mayor and three advisors and provide a payment for them large enough to justify jus-tify some first-class business men to devote all their time to the best interests of the city that is, do what a business man would do under like circumstances. |
