Show Mining JVote.Ss Under the supervision of F. W. Sherman, superintendent su-perintendent of the Daly-West mill, some extensive exten-sive improvements are being made at the large ' . Daly-Judge mill, chief among these being the in stallation of a set of Sherman slime settling I tanks. These tanks are the invention of Super intendent Sherman for which patent is now pending. pend-ing. It has always been conceded by mill men that one of tho most difficult losses to overcome is that cause by slimes carrying over the values and this problem, Mr. Sherman thinks he has mastered in his new invention. In addition to this 1 set of tanks a new five-foot Huntington mill, an- 1 other three compartment jig of the New Century I pattern and three more Wilfley tables are being in- I stalled. It is expected with these new additions J to increase the capacity to 350 tons per day. tart 5 A new strike is reported in the four hundred-foot hundred-foot level of the Victor Consolidated. The drift 1 which is four foot wide shows an entire face of copper ore that carries about 14 per cent, thirteen ounces in silver and about one dollar in gold. It was opened at a point 500 feet south of the stope on tho 300-foot level ana extends almost to the surface, giving a stoping area of 500 feet in lengtn and one hundred feet vertically. The company-is company-is -sending out about a carload a day and expects to increase this as soon as stoping begins on the new strike. tv tv t$ Manager J. S. Free of the Park City Gold and Silver company reports good progress being made at that company's property. The incline shaft that Is being sunk is now down to a depth of 170 teet and as soon as it reaches the 200-foot mark a drift will be run to tap the vein that left the shaft a few feet above the 170-foot point. Mr. Free thinks that very little drifting will be necessary to show up a fine ore body on this vein, and expects to make a producer pro-ducer of it before very long. 1&V 10 &fc The work of sinking the shaft of the Lower Mammoth from the 1,100-foot level to the 1,200-toot 1,200-toot is in progress and it is expected work will go on without interruption until that point is reached. The station at the 1,100-foot level Is about completed and the donkey hoist that was used on the 900-foot level has been lowered to the station at the 1,100 level and will be used in sinking the double compartment shaft. From this point the management expect to drift both south and west and cut the ore bodies that are supposed sup-posed to make along their east and west Assures. Last month the company marketed twenty carloads car-loads of ore that netted the company less than $150 per car, and Manager Chipman says if the strike on the 1,100 foot level doesn't produce a better grade of ore than they have had so far It will be necessary to levy an assessment with which to do the proposed development work. v & tJ Manager Ben T. Floyd of the Copper Mountain J mine in Beaver county is in receipt of a letter from his Superintendent C. H. Smith, advising that the gasoline engine recently purchased has been installed and is ready to go Into commission, also that the buildings and surface improvements i at the property are about completed. While these surface improvements were being made the timi bering of the main shaft has been progressing ! steadily and is rapidly nearlng completion. Mr. ' ' Lloyd expects to leave for the property on Mon day and will supervise the Initial operation of ; the new plant. j & & & ! Milan Packard, manager of the Star Consoli dated, says that the new strike recently made on ; tho 300-foot level of that property is holding out nicely and that he would not be surprised if it turned out bigger than anything found in the mine for several years past. A drift has been started from the 400-foot station to tap the same ledge and Mr. Packard has no doubt it will show up strong on this level. |
