Show Death of Dr. Alexander Maclean. Dr. Maclean, who died on Saturday last, was a most estimable man, a most eminent physician one of the most useful citizens who ever walked these streets. Only his professional brethron know how great he was as a physician, only those near and dear to him know the depth and strength and tenderness of his nature, and few even of them understood tho full Integrity and sterling manhood that filled his unostentatious life. Finoly educated, perfectly equipped in his profession, sensitive and conscientious in the performance of every duty, he moved a ministering spirit here for years until his strength was sapped by a fatal illness. Even then he did not give up, but long after he knew that a death sentence had been served upoa him, he carried his kindly smile and gentle hand Into the chambers of tbe sick and gave to the suffering hopes that he know he could never cherish for himself. His death Is a dls-tlnct dls-tlnct loss to the city, to his family an overwhelmingly overwhelm-ingly sorrow. All sympathy goes out to them, and with it earnest prayers that the Great Comfortor may pity them and give them the strength to boar ' their heavy burden. |
