Show GOLF. Well, the haughty A class men got their bump-in bump-in gs good and plenty in the match play for the handicap cup last week that is, some of tnem did. Bob Harkness, who was given a nice snug handicap handi-cap of six strokes, having but recently broken into the ranks of the elect, and Frank McGurrin, who plays a mean game to beat whether he has had breakfast or not, are the survivors, and will play the finals at thirty-six holes today. I take it for granted that McGurrin will play his usual game, that is, at about a 41 or 42 gait for nine holes. If he does that, and Harkness goes off a little on the heartbreaking pace he has cut out in recent games, he will win. But if Bob trots home with ?ny more of his 41 scores, with a handicap of three strokes for nine holes, Brer McGurrin is going to leceive a severe jolting. At any rate, the game is going to be worth looking at, and undoubtedly the scrappers Tor the cup will have a good gallery. gal-lery. B class men are full of surprises. Fred Hale has not yet recovered from the 40 score made by Wicks fn his second round. Wicks barely missed a yard putt for a 39, bogey score Wicks' playing was somewhat of a surprise all around. He came near to putting McGurrin out of the running in the peventh round of match play, finishing the first nine holes 4 up. But then he stubbed his toe woefully, woe-fully, McGurrin taking seven holes straight from him and winning nicely. Harkness had some heartbreaking play to reach the finals. His game -with Copp was only finished at the twenty-fifth hole, and in the semi-finals with Steiner it took ihe twenty-seventh hole to decide the match is his favor. I am curious to see some of the play in the women's handicap cup competition, which iE now ," H on. I've heard talk of scopes of 50 recently.
