Show r The GARLAND READING DOWN THE SIDE WITH THE EDITOR A County Sanitary District Should Box Elder County be organized as a Sanitary District? That was the question discussed at a public meeting at the Court House at Brigham City last Monday evening at which representative citizens from most of the communities of the county were present The proposal that such a district should be established comes from the State Board of Health and the board of directors of the county mosquito abatement organization who have observed numerous unsanitary conditions which they feel need the attention of a sanitary authority The type of district organization that is made possible by a new law passed by the state legislature was explained by Ur Spendloe of the State Board of Health This would call for the employment of a fulltime physician at a salary of $10000 per year two sanitarians four public health nurses and a stenographer-secretarThese people together with the oifice and travel expense that would would cost the county an estimated $37500 per year be necessary it was stated at the meeting The county already is pay ing much of this amount for school nurses etc The organization inspection could be set up with the same board of directors that represents the towns on the mosquito abatement work county and its incorporated and would handle the mosquito abatement project as part of its duties and with the same funds now provided by the special tax that is being levied for that purpose In addition it would be necessary for the Sanitary District to a mill tax to bring in an estimated $18000 to finance the operation The remaining costs would come from lees and sources already being paid in the county such as the cost aheady ami fees being paid for two health nurses by the school district for meat and milk inspection which now go out of the county There would be some money available from state and federal funds for the district also it was stated levy Royalty Contests Tonight Set Stage For Wheat-R- e et Celebration Next Week-en- d FIDE IN THE PARADE Every or? who has a saddle horse and would like to ride in Wheat-Bee- t Day they would have jurisdiction over all conditions which might affect the public health Sewage disposal is a problem that is becoming of increasing importance as the amount of such material that is being poured into the Mahul River and other creeks canals and even into the barrow pits along the roads in the county increases Fly breeding spots which are partially nullifying the work of the spraying operation also are demanding attention Whether these and other conditions require the cost'y organization proposed was only briefly discussed at the meeting hut received atBy Max Adams
