Show PUBLISHED EVERY FRIDAY MORNING Vol IX No 40 Paragraph? By SMILES V Wsa J TO SMOKES It always provides me no end of amusement when speakers come among us and talk about what is to be done with our leisure time 0 0 AT GARLAND Pertinent 0 Leisure time is something we just do not have It would be the same thing if some one were to deliver a lecture on what one should do with one’s surplus money because locally we see mighty little of that either A man with a farm is occupied practically all the time He even cheats the sleeping hours most of the year atid at that doesn’t make enough to paint the bam once in ten years The fellow with a small business of his own soon finds that he must spend practically all of every day looking after it if he is to keep his checking account at the bank large enough to cover the business and grocery bills each month must have more before we have any considerable amo u n t of leisure time on our hands in this section of the We uoney country By money we don’t mean this kind of fictitious money that you make yourself such as the Utah Prosperity league or what ever it is has been circulating You pay for that lately variety at par and spend an extra dollar and ten cents for the privilege by the time you have used it for six short months A Scotch farmer is kindly handsaid to have taken a ful of it on a calf sale and first one thing and another kept him from getting back to town to spend it for ten In the meantime he days was having to put the two cent “Prosperity” stamp on each dollar every 3 days The neighbors are tending the farm now while he recuperates at a certain public institution Those who put up the several thousand dollars on which the bonds are issued get the 10 per cent margin for interest and expenses twice each year or 20 per cent in all which seems enough to justify a in the very
