Show DEMOCRATIC COLUMN. (ADVERTISING.) The Democratic party of Box Elder El-der county refuses to be drawn away from tho Issues Into petty personalities personal-ities nnd vituperation. Incidentally we wish to thank the Hon. Frank W. Flshburn, president of a non-partlznn school board, for the votes he made by his remarks last Friday evening, for tho Democratic Demo-cratic candidate for District Judge. If tho Hon. Frank W. can be induced to speak every night wo bcllevo Justin Jus-tin D. Call wilt pull out of Box Elder El-der county with n good Bate majority Really, though, you cannot blame "The self -constituted bulwark ot the public schools" for dodging tho Is-buo Is-buo and making a slurring, scurrilous scurri-lous attack ou one or two individuals whon he was trying to belittle a plank ot tho Democratic county platform plat-form containing these self-ovldcnt truths: "Tho peoplo can always be trusted: their voice Is the voice of God. Those holding offlco are the servnnts and not the mastors. "We cannot denounce too strongly the high-handed methods adopted by our county commissioners In refusing re-fusing to hear tho people's representatives repre-sentatives concerning tho consolidation consolida-tion of our public schools. No radical ra-dical measure should bo adopted without first consulting tho people They are bigger than tho commissioners commis-sioners and any political party that questions their rights should bo repudiated re-pudiated on election day." Wo understand that Senator Reed Smoot virtually apologized for "The self-constituted bulwark of the public" pub-lic" by saying that he (The Senator) had no personal attacks to make, and no mud to sting. Tho great mistake "The self- constituted con-stituted bulwark" made waB in attacking at-tacking the plank with "his little hammer" when what ho needed was r. buzz-saw. The private opinion of a few individuals in-dividuals Is ot no vital Importance to the publle as "The self-constituted" will probably realize after ho has had moro experience A vote for Knight Is a vote for the right. JesBo William Knight as governor gov-ernor will do more for pence In Utah than nny other man can do. He Is a young man of great executive a-blllty a-blllty and not a politician. Ho has no friends to pay, no enemies to punish. He will be a governor ot Utah with the Interests ot the stato it heart. Lyman R. Martlneau Is a man of such magnetic personality and untiring un-tiring energy that he can and will do more for Utah In the halls of Congross than the present representative represen-tative could do with ten years moro training. All democrats aro going to voto for Lewis S. Wight for sheriff of Box Elder county. Enough honest, conscientious republicans, who bcllevo bc-llevo In the'prlnclplo of rotation In office, are going to vote for him, to elect him. They feet that the de-fire de-fire and Intent to enforce the law Is muro necessary than past experience. J. C. Cutler am' George May are men whopo standing In the commun Ity, whoso experience nnd ability, appeals to everybody Irrespective of party lines, ns men to elect as county coun-ty commissioners. Some of tho republican "bosslets" sny. "We do not care what you do so long ns you do not Ho nbout us," then they get out nnd sling mud nnd throw dut until they cannot tell whother they nre lying themselves or not, but they cannot fool the people. Now, voterr. of Box Elder county, do you not think that it would bo am honor to this county to bo represented represent-ed in tho State Legislature by two such Independent thinkers, honest, energetic gentlemen, ns "Dick" Davis Da-vis and P. M. Hansen? They aro not tied up In any way, but will hn free to vote for any democrnt of ability to ropresent Utah In tho U. S, Senato. Louis H. Getz says he Is a democrat, demo-crat, that he Is for Bryan, for the entire state ticket, ths Judicial ticket tick-et nnd the county ticket of tho democratic de-mocratic party. That should be satisfactory satis-factory to democrats. Some republicans repub-licans aro advertising the claim that hn Is a republican, As this Is the worst wor-st they seem to be nblo to say about him, It should help his candidacy vpry materially for the offlco of tho county treasurer. Is It necessary for us to dwell upon tho Individual merits ot such men as Frank K. Nobcker, George R. Chase, Hyrum E. Perry, Moroni Mortensen, Victor E. Madson and ErneBt P. Hors ley? We think not. They aro all competent to fill the offices for which they are candidates. We aro glad to leave it to the people. It dopends on you whether or not theso men servo you for the next two years. |
