It is tho flrst one I have received since I arrived in France, and of all America's great newspapers, I would have chosen It because it comes from home and pooplo whom I know and love. It has been a month since I hud a paper from the states, so I was very much pleased when one of the city boys said : "hero is your corn-cob bugler," and threw tho Globe to me. Wo aro billeted in a little pesant town where everything every-thing Is very comfortable. The peoplo seem to bo pleased to havo us Bharo their homes, barns and Bheds with them. Wo have plenty of good old American food to eat and good beds to sleep on. Our band gives concerts on the village Bquaro and when wo aro nqt needed for duty, during the day, we can swim in a lake about a half mile away or pick and eat blackberrys from vines that lino th'i country roads or Just hang awund town and play with tho kllldies and try our luck, which Is 'generally poor, with tho pretty Finch girls. l( will dose now, trusting you wjll send tho Globo hero instead of jmy former address. jCorp. There was a happy meeting meet-ing at tho Edwards' homo yesterday yes-terday when Ted arrived home. Ho will bo allowed to remain for about ton days a pretty short stay, but Undo Sam needs his men and tho women must make tho sacrlflco which is a hard ono. Ted says hp never felt better in his life and is well pleased with his Job for Undo Sam. |
