Albert Schweitzer STATE IIOAD PLACES NEW IMPROVED STREET SIGNS Gene Fullmer, Utah's popular middleweight boxing champion, was honored at a special luncheon Wednesday, March 27th in he Roof Gardsn of the Hotel Utah, sponsored by his employer, Kennecott Copper Corporation. Highlight of the event was the presentation of the official worlds middleweight championship belt to Gene by Nat Fkischer, editor of "Ring, and the boxing historian of his generation. Mr. Fleischer was introduced by Gov. George D. Clyde, who headed a guest list of 300 persons. A special presentation was made by L. F. Pett, general manager of Utah Copper Division of Kennecott Copper Corporation, on behalf of the Company. Rex Layne, popular e contender for the heavyweight title, and fellow employee at the Bingham Canyon Mine Machine shop, was on hand to present Gene with the copper-platerizht-han- d glove he used in winning the title from Sugar Ray Robinson last January, The presentation was made on behalf of the employees of the machine shop.
