Speers, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Speers, former residents of Garfield, now of Las Vegas, Nevada, will be interested to learn of recent notable recognition by the government. Dr. Speers was awarded a citation for meritorious service in laboratory work in the study of a new disease, epidemic hemorrhage fever, by the U. S. Army. reDr. Speers and his wife now side in Claremont, North Carolina. Dr. Speers made his study of the disease while serving in Korea, and prepared a manual on hia findings. He was honorably discharged from the service in December, 1952. Dr. Speers was recently recognized by the Claremont Lions Club for this citation, and LL Col George White, who was formerly associated with Dr. Speers in the medical corps in Korea, presented the citation. Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Day spent the past week in San Francisco, visited California where they their son, Russell, who is stationed there with the Army. First Child Although the father was away at school at the birth of his baby, Mr. and Mrs. Archie W.
