This letter was given to the Timet and Leader by a devoted wife and mother in appreciation of Scouting. We are happy to reprint it: Here I sit alone on a Saturday night while my husband and our son are out on a three-da- y camporee. And I have never been more content in my life. 'll wasn't always sa I am ashamed to say that at one time I resented my husband's Scouting activities. But then it came to me that he was only really happy when he was helping others and I suddenly realized that there weren't many men with such a capacity for loving and giving to their fellow men. I realized that Scouting was more to. him than just being a leader of boys; that it was his way of giving of himself to a worthwhile cause. 1 also realized that, because of my attitude, he wasn't doing what his heart told him to do, to the best of his ability. When I started to see these things more clearly, everything changed. Its amazing how he finds time for Scouting with all his other interests, such as trying to make a living and taking care of three children and a wife. Of course its true that Scouting helps as well as takes time what could be better than to see the way Scouting has brought my two men together where once they were miles apart! Yes, my acclimation to my husbands devotion to Scouting is in many ways purely selfish. Because going along with him in this interest and sometimes feeling like a widow in doing it has made him a happy man and in return I'm a much happier wife and mother. Its a wonderful feeling to hear your husband and son say Gee, Mom, you're a good Scout, too."
