Show uscmmu tmvjs By Marlene Haws 826-4859 marlenehcolor-country.net The Labor Day weekend brought visitors all the way from Wichita, Kansas to the home of Marjie Spencer. Val Jean, niece of Marjie and Thurm Spencer, and Chuck Wilson visited. They enjoyed visiting in town for 5 days. Marjie's brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Donna Zenz of Reno, Nev., also came for the (See ESCALANTE on page 3) Escalante News From Page 2A weekend. They brought Marjie some more back yard barbeque-ing barbeque-ing equipment. So Marjie can't quit entertaining just yet! Thais Griffin went to Las Vegas, Nev., with her sister Ardith Davis last week. They both have daughters and grandchildren grand-children there. 'Nuff said? Pat and Bobbi Coughlin just returned from a fishing trip to Prince of Wales Island in Alaska. If you see Bobbi walking walk-ing like a duck it's because she said she grew webbed feet up there! Pat took a swim when he was trying to show Bobbi a big salmon and they also encountered encoun-tered a bear while they were out walking. (Some people have all the fun!) Pat has relatives along the Washington coast so they visited them on the way home. They say they have a drought problem there too and everything every-thing looked pretty bad. No irrigation irri-gation systems there as they depend on rain that didn't come. Kent Cottam, St. George, came up to check on things out at Canyon Country. He had also just returned from fishing in Alaska. I hear he shipped some home. I sure do like fish, Kent! Ardis and Norm Christensen and Phyllis and Freland Alvey went to visit their kids, Clyde and Terrie Christensen and family fam-ily in Tooele last Saturday, Sept. 6. When they arrived the kids had a birthday dinner ready for Norm. (Happy Birthday, Norm!) On Sunday, they all went to Salt Lake for the blessing bless-ing of their granddaughter, Brinley Dawn, daughter of Stratton and Liz Christensen. Norman's sister, Shirley Pratt, and daughter Lauralee came from Grantsville to visit them also. We would like Terry Mitchell and his sister, Courtney, to know that we are really glad to hear that Courtney is doing better. It has been a long hard battle for her since her unfortunate car accident and we too hope that she will be well again soon. Francis Imlay took his wife, Barbara, by the hand last week, on her birthday, and they ran away for the day. Their kids thought they were lost, but they knew where they were all the time. They spent the day in Richfield having dinner and shopping and really enjoyed their "get-away!" Renee Porter took Ben back to Provo last Thursday with a bad leg again. Hope it is nothing noth-ing serious so he can come back and spend a little more time here before winter really sets in. I don't think he was ready to go back to Provo just yet! Calvin Schow's sisters, Maxine Alvey and Merle Davenport of Salt Lake, stopped in to visit Calvin and Martha last week. They were on their way to Green River so they took a little lit-tle detour to get here. Mike Searle, St. George, stopped in to check on his mother-in-law, Twila Mclnelly. He was on his way to the mountains to do some bow hunting. Lucinda Duncan and her daughter, Brittany Larsen, Cedar City, brought Brittany's 2 week old baby girl, Lainey, to town to visit grandparents, Melvin and Florence Alvey. Melviri was especially excited to get to hold his new great granddaughter. grand-daughter. (I imagine Florence was too.) Clorene Vidrine's son, Marty Vidrine, wife Debbie and their two sons, Riverton, visited Clorene on the weekend. Lane and Geraldine Liston went to St. Johns, Ariz, to visit their children, Gary and Sandy Liston and family and to attend a wedding reception for Jennifer and John Navarro. Sincere condolences to Lora and Ted Engberg at the passing of their husband and father, Flint Engberg. |
