Show Natural Gas. At What Price? Before moving to Panguitch, we enjoyed natural gas. Here, we've been satisfied over the last 20 years to use propane and we even use it in our truck. Now, we look at the costs of installing natural gas. We are told that in addition to paying for the gas we use, we would be committed to paying $30 per month for 15 years. If we opened a savings account and put $30 a month into that account for 15 years and earned 5 percent interest, over the years, we would end up with a total of $8,038.05 - quite a sum. We are also told we would have a one-time hook up fee of $144 plus the expense of piping within the house and have appliances that can use natural gas. In addition, next year we will have sewers to pay for -- $23 per month "FOREVER," plus a one-time $500 hook up fee. We can appreciate businesses desiring de-siring natural gas and justifying the cost, but, we question the total cost for a residence - THINK ABOUT IT! Bob and Grace Benfield Panguitch |
