Show Stop Wasting Your Vote I worked-as a congressional aide in the U. S. House of Representatives Repre-sentatives in Washington for a long time. My heart went out to the people of southern Utah when I heard about the heavy handed attempt at-tempt by the Clinton Administration to take over a large chunk of Kane and Garfield counties for a new national monument. What made me even more upset is the fact that Bill Orton did nothing to represent the people of southern Utah. In fact, the administration obviously has such low regard for Orton, they didn't even bother to tell him about it. I was so bothered by this that I just had to write a letter. let-ter. I speak from years of experience as well as personal knowledge of the workings of Congress when I tell you that Bill Orton is a counterfeit coun-terfeit conservative and completely ineffective. He introduces bill after bill, none of which ever even see the lieht of dav. Last Year he intro duced 15 bills, none of which passed. The truth is that no man can serve two masters. For years Orton has been trying to please his party which is liberal while pacifying his constituents who are conservative. He is caught in a terrible conflict of interest. In Washington, politics is a team sport. Bill Orton plays on the Clinton Team while trying to make his constituents believe he is an "independent." I hope for the best for the people of southern Utah, but Bill Orton has proved he is completely inadequate in representing repre-senting your needs. Who knows what could happen next. It seems that no area of Utah is safe from a sudden land grab. It is my hope that the people of this congressional congres-sional district will wake up and put a stop to this. Let's stop wasting our vote in Congress. Let's retire Bill Orton this year. M.J. Ford Provo |
