Show Largest Dean 's List Ever At Cedar's SUU CEDAR CITY The largest dean's list in the history of Southern Utah University (SUU) was released re-leased this week by the university's registrar's office, giving recognition to 567 students from 10 states and two foreign counties including from Garfield County and surrounding towns: Kirk Lee Heaton, Alton; Melonie Brewer, Circleville; Melanie Cottam, Escalante; Michael Savage, Hatch; Sherida Allen, Kingston and Justin Fischer, Cassie Ann Franklin and Jamie Klein, all of Panguitch. "Typically, approximately 10 percent of our students qualify for the dean's list," Sterling R. Church, vice president for student services explains. "With the university's healthy enrollment growth, it is a natural thing for more students to be included on the dean's list." To qualify for the dean's list at SUU, a student must complete at least 15 quarter hours of academic work for which a letter grade is awarded and earn a grade point average av-erage of 3.60 or higher for that work. A grade point average of 4.0 equals straight "A" grades. A 3.60 grade point average is roughly equivalent to an "A-minus" average. aver-age. "It is a significant academic achievement to earn recognition on the dean's list," Church indicated. "It is very real evident of hard work and a dedication to the student's educational commitment." |
