Travel Council Asks $337,000 1994 Budget Members of the Garfield County Travel Council met Nov. 2 at the Hungry Coyote in Tropic where Travel Council Executive Director Bruce Fullmer presented a budget report and a projected budget for 1994. Budget sub-committee members John Houston, Kenny Miller, Stan Foy, Lamar LeFevre and Jean Seiler met with Fullmer the previous week to review the 1993 budget which had been projected at $309,000, and to develop a tentative tenta-tive budget for 1994, estimated at $337,000. Fullmer provided Travel Council members with detailed copies of the 1993 budget report to date and a copy of the projected budget for 1994, but again failed to provide copies for the press. Fullmer reported that sub-committee members had reviewed and analyzed, compared 1993 expenditures expendi-tures and revenues to 1992, used their imagination and had made recommendations rec-ommendations for Travel Council for 1994, requiring an increase of approximately $28,000 over 1993's projected $309,000. Fullmer told the group that the sub-committee's tentative budget that will be presented pre-sented to the Garfield County Commission next week for the commission's approval. Revenues this year thus far have failed to come up to 1992's third quarter, but Fullmer said he feels that fourth quarter revenues for this year will meet and possibly exceed last year's to help make up the shortfall. Bruce spoke to Tom Hatch. "Tom for your information, we will probably be using some surplus to balance this." To the council, Fullmer said, "you remember re-member last year we began collecting collect-ing some of our monies on a monthlv basis so it makes compar ison." He said he that thinks in another year they will have enough history to have a better month-to month-comparison. "If we receive in the last three months of this year, the same amount that we received in '92 for those three months, you'll notice our revenues will be about $281,000 for this year." A last minute report from the county treasurer's trea-surer's office revealed that October's revenues for this year were almost $3,000 higher for the month than in 1992. Based on that, Fullmer anticipates "that our revenues for 1993 will be awfully close to $300,000." He said that the figure does not include revenue from placemat sales, Rim Run receipts and other sources totalling approximately approx-imately $6,000. |
